こうやって。
Today
The cold has returned—
It was that kind of day.
On this chilly spring day,
The last Sunday of April,
It was my mother’s graduation ceremony.
At 76 years old,
My mother graduated from a four-year university
as a student.
She was chosen to deliver
the farewell address on behalf of the students.
I wore a dress—
slightly open at the chest—
and a jacket,
and I took charge of filming her.
Every night,
my mother practiced reading her speech.
I guess you could say—
this was her youth.
Financially,
and because of my illness,
I caused my mother so much trouble.
That thought
had weighed heavily on me
for such a long time.
So seeing the moment come
when it was her turn—
when the light finally shone on her—
I felt truly happy.
On the way home,
my mother stayed behind to attend a tea party,
so I walked home alone.
As I walked,
I suddenly craved something sweet… and something salty.
So I treated myself to
a matcha shake and fries.
Somehow,
it felt like life was saying—
"See? This is how it unfolds."
To my younger self,
who once felt so hopeless
and ended up in the hospital,
overwhelmed by pain and medication—
I wanted to say,
“Look at how things turn out.”
That was
my day.
I hope tomorrow brings light—
and that you, too,
stay well.
